Organize a Screening.
Leaders from the Palestinian and Black Liberation Movements have been building with each other, sharing lessons and strategies since the 1960’s--a rich legacy built by June Jordan, Angela Davis, Malcolm X, and others. As we continue to grapple with the twin pillars of white supremacist state violence and colonialism, it’s more important than ever to organize locally, while building globally- to continue the radical tradition of internationalizing our narratives, struggles, and our work.
There Is A Field--now available for (virtual) educational and community screenings--offers an opportunity to do just that. We believe these screenings can play an important role in catalyzing meaningful conversations and connections around state violence, decolonization, and movements for liberation in the United States, Palestine, and across the world.
Whether you are a Black Lives Matter organizer, Palestinian rights activist, theatre practitioner, or a passionate individual, Donkeysaddle Projects (DSP) encourages you to organize a There Is A Field screening with your community. Events can be tailored to what you/your community would find most meaningful. You may choose to show the film, followed by a facilitated discussion with the audience. You may wish for the members of the film team to hold a talk-back or Q & A, or to organize a panel with Black Lives Matter and/or Palestine solidarity activists. You may wish to show the film to your class, or purchase it for a library. In all cases, DSP will work with you, providing you with resources for planning, promoting, and hosting your event.
When possible, we do ask for a screening + speaking fees. The amount is flexible, depending on needs and capacity. These fees enable DSP to offer the film far and wide, and pay the artists and activists speaking with the film, but we never want these fees to be a barrier to any community hosting a screening. More info can be found here.
To get started, please fill out the Screening Request Form. A member of our team will get back to you to begin working out the details.
